Metal oxide varistors (MOVs) are used in nearly all electrical equipment and are the most commonly employed surge-absorbing (overvoltage protection) devices. The TR series high-performance varistors are widely used in next-generation communication systems (5G), power instruments, meters, lighting sources, switch-mode power supplies, and other applications that demand high temperatures, high energy levels, and operate in confined spaces with challenging environmental conditions.

Key Features and Advantages
• Voltage-sensitive: It hardly conducts and remains insulating below the breakdown voltage; once the voltage exceeds the breakdown threshold, it instantly becomes conductive, and its resistance drops sharply.
• The response speed is ultra-fast—slightly slower than that of TVS devices, but significantly faster than fuses and NTCs.
• It has high energy absorption capacity and is inexpensive; under the same cost conditions, its surge energy absorption capability far exceeds that of TVS devices.
• Both AC and DC can be used; AC 220/380V input is the most commonly used.
• Small size, standardized selection for 7D, 10D, 14D, and 20D series.
